2 Limb Lengthening Journey: Japanese Patient
Our Japanese patient in his late twenties began his journey with us, with his arrival in Istanbul. He settled into his hotel a few days prior to his surgery, initially joining our Istanbul tour, one of the special services we offer to our patients. He wondered around our historic city, admiring its beauty with the splendid view of the Bosphorus.
Subsequently, he moved to the hospital for his first consultation and examination with our doctor. A range of medical tests were conducted, including blood tests, a physical examination, and a leg X-ray to discuss the potential lengthening process and the extent of the increase that could be achieved with surgery.
His First Surgery Process
The patient's initial height was 165 cm before his first surgery.

On November 1, 2022, his first successful limb lengthening surgery was performed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus Öç. Our patient preferred to undergo limb lengthening surgery using the Combined (LON) method.

The level of pain was relatively low in the period following his first surgery.

He underwent his first device removal surgery on December 27, 2022, and at the end of his first surgery, he had grown a total of 5.5 cm from the femur. After discussing with the doctor, the patient decided to have his second surgery on the tibia.
His Second Surgery Process and After
Our patient, who had his surgery on January 19, 2023, grew another 5.5 cm during this process, completing his journey at a total height of 176.5 cm. After the second surgery, the patient reported experiencing more pain and some sleeping problems, but these issues were later resolved by adjusting the amount of painkillers and the form of physical therapy.
The patient's body proportions were very well maintained, completing a total increase of 11.5 cm in height.
