8.5cm Growth: The Limb Lengthening Journey of Our Turkish Patient

This article tells the story of Mr. Mehmet, 28 years old, and his journey to get taller. Our patient, who normally lives in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, had been researching for 15 years about height increase; while doing research, he saw Jack's video on Youtube and contacted him; he asked him the questions he had in mind and received detailed answers. He was satisfied with the answers he received and contacted our patient representative (+90 531 988 30 90) on October 22, 2022. Before starting the journey, I would like to share with you the latest condition of our patient.

Mehmet's Last Height

His pre-operative height was 173.5 cm and his post-operative height was 182 cm. Thus, there was a healthy growth of +8.5cm.

We wish our patient a happy and healthy life with his new height and beautiful memories. He will be with us again next year for the 2nd tibial lengthening surgery. We are looking forward to see him again! Now, let's move on to the process.

Mr. Mehmet, met with our doctor personally and received detailed information about the process during his examination. Our patient describes this meeting as follows:

“I went to his office and talked to him, he explained the surgery process and answered all my questions in great detail. He informed me about possible complications and emphasized how bad the extra weight is for this surgery. I like it when doctors explain it to their patients the same way they explain it to their colleagues. Many doctors don't want to bother thinking that their patients won't understand the details anyway, which is very wrong.”

Our patient, who was 173.5cm tall, had contracted the coronavirus before the surgery. Upon learning that it did not affect the surgery, he underwent the LON surgery on the upper leg (femur) on November 22, 2022. He says that he felt a terrible pain when he woke up from anesthesia, but this pain lasted 20 minutes. After the surgery, our patient's X-ray was taken at 15:00. Our doctor said the surgery was successful, it lasted approximately 3 hours, and he shouldn't move his legs too much. Then the doctor showed Mr. Mehmet foot exercises he could do and explained the importance of this for blood circulation.

While our patient was resting at Hospital, his brother came from London a few hours later. And said that our hospital was very luxurious and he liked it very much. He stated that the hospital looked better than the hospitals in London.

Mehmet was discharged from the hospital on the 5th day after the surgery and went to the hotel for rehabilitation. Our patient states that he did not feel severe pain during the lengthening process, the reason for this he says as follows:

• Excellent surgical technique 
• Heavy physical therapy program 5 days a week (He felt pain during physical therapy. 
• Stretching your legs throughout the day 
• High-calorie, high-protein diet, eating a varied diet and taking supplements such as D3, fish oil and multivitamins.

Mr. Mehmet said that he did not see any cases of infection in any patient during his stay at the hotel.

Mr. Mehmet, who said that our team bought him wifi with 5G connection to play PS5 and that he was not charged for this, mentioned that our team even found a Nigerian restaurant for an American patient. 😊

On February 9, 2023, Mehmet performed the device removal surgery and stated that he felt pain for 30 minutes after anesthesia. However, our patient adds that the pain passed afterwards.

Mehmet was able to walk the day after the device was removed and in his interview with our doctor, he learned that he grew 8.5 cm and stated that this was more than his goals. 

Our patient says that it is very important to do stretching movements before surgery so that you do not feel severe pain during the process.
