01 · Profile

Trained in trauma, focused on lengthening.

Why this matters to you: limb lengthening is a deformity correction procedure at heart. A surgeon with a trauma and academic background reads your X-rays, plans your osteotomy and manages consolidation with the same discipline he applies in fracture surgery.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus Öç graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University in 2008 and completed his residency in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital, University of Health Sciences, between 2009 and 2014.

After his compulsory service at Batman Kozluk State Hospital he returned to Şişli Etfal as a specialist and went on to practise at private hospitals in Tekirdağ and Istanbul. From 2021 to 2024 he worked at Beykent University Hospital, where he also conducted academic research and taught undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Since 2024 he has performed limb lengthening, limb lengthening revision, deformity correction and height reduction surgeries at the JCI accredited contracted hospital where Wanna Be Taller patients are operated on and followed up. His academic work and publications are listed on Google Scholar and PubMed, and more about him can be found on his own website, dryunusoc.com.

04 · Methods he performs

Three nails, one surgeon. Hover to flip.

METHOD · 01

LON

Lengthening Over Nail. External fixator during distraction, internal nail afterwards.

7–10 cmfemur · 6–8 cm tibia
Partial weight bearing allowed, set individually by your surgeon.
LON · DETAILS

How it works

Distraction with an external fixator, then the nail carries the bone through consolidation. The most established method he performs.

Read the LON page →
METHOD · 02

Fitbone

Fully internal motorised nail, German made, subcutaneous receiver, rotation stable design.

7–8.5 cmfemur · 6–8 cm tibia
Fewer incisions, typically 5 on the femur and 6 on the tibia.
FITBONE · DETAILS

How it works

No external fixator. A motorised nail is lengthened daily through a subcutaneous receiver; weight bearing is set individually by your surgeon.

Read the Fitbone page →
METHOD · 03

Precice 2

Fully internal magnetic nail, lengthened with an external remote controller.

8–8.5 cmmaximum per segment
Wheelchair supported process; weight bearing set individually by your surgeon.
PRECICE 2 · DETAILS

How it works

No external fixator. A magnetic nail is lengthened with an external remote controller during a wheelchair supported distraction phase.

Read the Precice 2 page →

Dr. Öç performs all three methods and has no preference between Fitbone and Precice 2; the choice is left to the patient after an X-ray review. He does not perform quadrilateral lengthening in a single session. Method pages and the prices page cover the details.

05 · How he follows your journey

The same surgeon, start to finish.

From the first examination at the hospital to the day you walk out of the recovery building, your surgeon is the one reviewing your progress. Scroll the film strip.

Planning the segment

Femur or tibia, method and target centimetres are decided on your X-rays and body proportions.

Stem cell support

When indicated, stem cell support is applied during surgery to assist consolidation.

Visits at the recovery building

Every two weeks he examines patients where they stay, so the distraction phase is checked in person.
