PRECICE STRYDE – The Newest Limb Lengthening Technology Available

PRECICE Stryde” is the latest and most advanced limb lengthening system available anywhere in the world. Largely, the “ PRECICE STRYDE ” is a newer version of the previous “ PRECICE 2 ” version of the intramedullary nail system. It provides many innovations and benefits, including enhanced comfort of the patients and extra weight bearing tolerance & capabilities; thus being the new benchmark for the future of limb lengthening procedures.

It must be noted that both systems are nearly the same; they both employ motorized intramedullary nails, thus are internally embedded into the patient’s bones; Femur or Tibia, significantly reducing any chances of infections as the cuts are stitched after the implantation is performed. In comparison to LON ”,“ Holyfix ”&“ Ilizarov ”methodologies; where external fixators are necessary for the extension of the bones. It must also be noted that both PRECICE STRYDE ”&“ PRECICE 2 ”systems are much less painful, in comparison to the methods employing external fixators, and generally patients are very relaxed and comfortable during the extension phases in these systems.

The new ‘PRECICE STRYDE’ system has essentially reduced the difficulties of the ‘PRECICE 2‘ system:

  • PRECICE STRYDE ”nails are made of stainless steel, which has been proven as much stronger and sturdier than“ PRECICE 2 ”intramedullary titanium-made nails.
  • PRECICE STRYDE ”and its stainless steel nails can easily bear the full weight of the patients; Thus, after only a few weeks of crutch usage, patients are generally able to move around. To compare, “PRECICE 2” system was not a full weight bearing, as the titanium nails could only bear partial weight so that the use of wheelchairs, crutches, or some other type of supporting device was necessary to move around.
  • With PRECICE STRYDE ”the usage of blood-thinning medication is not compulsory, which means reduced costs.

PRECICE STRYDE ”is the latest limb lengthening method. Thanks to our team at ; Turkey is now one of the handful of countries where limb lengthening surgery with “PRECICE STRYDE” method is being performed.

How much does bone lengthening cost?

If Precice Stryde method is out of your budget, you may check other high quality limb lengthening procedures that might suit your financial and scheduling (time) concerns better.

PRECICE 2 – one of the most comfortable, developed and well-practiced methods in the world. This methodology is well-practiced and applied by several of our doctors in Turkey. The only significant difference from Stryde is the limited capability of the “PRECICE” nails to bear the full weight of the patient, during the recovery phases (After the lengthening period is over, patients can walk once again)

LON – our most preferred method (chosen by 70-80% of all our patients) because of its shorter recovery period compared to Holyfix; at the same time significantly lower price than Precice 2.2 and Stryde.

HOLYFIX – this procedure was developed in order to eliminate the weaknesses of classical Ilizarov methodology and the devices used in this procedure are monolateral (single-sided); thus are much more compact and easy to operate for the patients.

ILIZAROV – this was the first known method for limb lengthening. Although a more modern and developed version of this methodology (Holyfix) is used more, Ilizarov method is still a reliable choice of many, and not only for limb lengthening treatments but also for bow legs, knock knees and multiple bone fractures.

You will be informed about the lengthening increase, lengthening process, the prices of the surgical methods, the difference of the methods, the risks of the surgery.

    • Do you perform humerus lengthening surgery? Is 5 cm dangerous, or is it a safe length for my body?

    • Hello,
I am interested in having this surgery in December of 2022, during my study time for my medical school boards. I would like to know if 8 cm femur lengthening can be completed within 4 months time. Also, you mentioned in the comments that the nail will be removed after 1.5 years, if the nail is kept in place, things like weight lifting and running would be affected? During that 1.5 year recovery time is it possible to be active and exercise?

      • Dear Leer,
        Thanks for your comment. Let me answer all of your questions one by one;
        1. The lengthening phase can be completed between 2 or 4 months. You can achieve your desired height in these periods of time.
        2. Sports activities outside of the necessary physiotherapy exercises can cause damage until the bone is strong and consolidated. Apart from the necessary physiotherapy exercises and walking at regular intervals, other sports are limited till the recovery is completed. If the nail is kept in its place, the exercise you wish to do might not be affected as long as you are in contact with your doctor and consult whether you are eligible or not to do them.

    • I read that the fixators would come off in about 3-4 months with LON. When would the internal nails be removed?

    • Hello my name is Calvin Carter and I’m a USA citizen. I am very interested in getting this procedure done! I stand 5’4 tall and my goal is to gain 6 inches of height so 5’10. I have reviewed the methods available. I am mostly interested in the LON and the Precise Stryde methods. I do have a question though. I know with the LON I would keep the fixatives on until my desired length is achieved. I see that also I’m able to achieve up to 6 inches from an operation. Just to clarify, would I be able to achieve that length from one LON Operation by keeping the fixators on for 6 months? Also the same from the Precise Stryde…how many inches could I achieve from one operation?

      • Hello Calvin !

No it is not possible to keep the fixator more than 3 months.

Now, with a single limb lengthening surgery, you can gain up to 3 inches.
        Or to be exact:
        1. Femurs (Thighs): 6 – 8 cms OR
        2. Tibias (Calfs) : 5 – 7 cms

However, you may even opt to have two limb-lengthening surgeries, with a gap of 6 months between the two surgeries, and gain up to 6 inches or 12 – 15 cms.

Please note that the height gains are similar with all 4 methods; internal, external and combination methods. The reason is that the height gain is dependant on the flexibility of the patient’s leg muscles and nerves.

Anything more than 8 cms on femurs and 7 cms on the Tibias, increases the risk of muscular or nerve damage.

Would you contact us on our WhatsApp +90 531 988 30 90 for a detailed consultation.

    • Hi, I want to grow at least 10cm. Ideally 5cm on the tibias and femurs each. I was wondering if I can have both surgeries in a short gap? (Like two weeks after for example) in other words, I do not want to wait so much time between both surgeries.

      • Hello,

Thank you for your comment. The gap is about your body conditions but after your first surgery you must wait till at least your removal surgery. If you keep doing your exercises regularly and take your physiotherapies regularly during your process you can have your second surgery in short time after your removal surgery.

    • Questions about this.
      How long is the surgery?
Does lengthening start as soon after surgery or after a few days?
How long should I stay in the hospital?
Is it possible to go back to home country during lengthening?
If I am only after 3~4cm does that mean I will be done lengthening in 30~40days?
After lengthening, should I have my nail removed as soon as possible or wait for a few months?
Is recovery faster if the lengthening is also shorter?

      • Dear Daniel,

Limb lengthening surgery takes around 2 -3 hours depending on a surgery method.
Lengthening phase starts after a few days from the surgery.
Normally, patients stay at hospital 5 days.
It is possible for patients to return back to their homeland after the surgery. But we highly recommend you to do your exercises and have a physiotherapy during lengthening period.
3 – 4 cm lengthening takes about 30 – 40 days (1 mm per day). After healing of bones starts, the doctor removes external fixators.
Recovery is faster if the lengthening is less.

You can get more detailed information from

    • Hello,

Can you only do the femur surgery? Or I have to do both? ‘Cause I think the femur to add 3 inches is enough for me. I’m 5’7 without shoes.

      • Dear Sir/Madam,

Now, the ideal age group for limb lengthening surgery is between 18 to 45 years; the reason is that as we age our bones lose minerals and become brittle, and its harder for the bones to heal. But, you can always consult the doctor and have a bone mineral density test and verify our eligibility for the surgery.

    • Is it possible to lengthen the humerus along with the femur at once? If so how much would this cost and how much could the humerus be lengthened,

      • Thanks for your comment. Humerus lengthening is possible, however it should be performed in a different procedure, not simultaneously with a leg lengthening procedure. 2-3 cm arm lengthening can be performed using Holyfix method and this surgery costs 9000 eur at the moment. • Can you let me know if the PRECICE STRYDE surgery can be painfull.
can i go back to my work after 3 month ?

      • Thanks for your comment. Limb lengthening surgery itself is not painful because it is performed under anesthesia. But the days after surgery are usually quite painful, according to our patients. In Stryde method, the lack of external fixators means much more comfort and less pain.
Getting back to your work depends on numerous factors, such as the nature of your job, your pain tolerance, recovery speed etc. For more details, please call us or contact us on WhatsApp: +90 531 988 30 90 or write an email: [email protected]

      • Dear Nic,

        a. Femurs: 6 cm to 8 cm OR
        b. Tibias: 5cm to 7 cms

However, if you are aiming for something for an average increase of height 12 to 15 cm, then it is possible to undergo two operations with around 5-6 months waiting time between two operations.

    • i am interested in getting this surgery for cosmetic purposes and i was wondering if there is a restriction on how tall you have to be in order to qualify. Also are the turkish doctors available for some sort of minor consultation online before i book a flight over there to make sure this is something i really want to do.

      • Dear Alisha Smith,

First of all, we would like to thank you for your kind comment and interest in limb lengthening and correctional surgery. Now, limb lengthening surgery was primarily developed as a surgical method to provide treatment options to patients suffering from dwarfism of limited stature; thus, there is no minimum height for this surgery.

Secondly, yes you can have an online consultation with the doctors before you plan your surgery and finalize your treatment plan.

    • Hi .. my name is Austin, age 31and am interested in limb lengthening of the femur with a precice system. But I am confused between precice 2 and stryde; can you tell me the difference between the two nails and which has a faster recovery time.

      • Dear Austin,

First of all, we would like to thank you for your kind comment and interest in limb lengthening surgery. Now, I will try to explain the difference between the Precice 2 and Precice Stryde limb lengthening systems. Both Precice systems are internal only intramedullary nails that are distracted or elongated with an electromagnetic remote control system; hence with both systems there are virtually no risk of any infections.

However, the major and only difference between the Precice 2 and Precice Stryde nails is their composition and weight-bearing abilities. The Stryde systems have the advantage that the nails are able to bear the weight of the patient during distraction or lengthening stages. However, with the older Precice 2 system the patient is wheelchair-bound throughout the entire distraction phase; until the time bone consolidation or healing begins; which starts at the end of the lengthening phase.

Thus, in reality the recovery time for both Precice nail systems is the same; which is 1 week of surgical recovery at the hospital; followed by 60 to 80 days of distraction or lengthening. After the lengthening stage is over; there is 5 to 6 months of consolidation; which is nothing more than routine physiotherapy, supplementary diet and rest.

        • Hello one more question.

Do I need to wait 6 months from the initial operation to get the second operation done? Or 6 months from when the nails are taken out. Please clarify.

          • You must wait for some time after the initial operation.

After some examinations, the Dr. will determine the date for the second surgery.

This all depends on your bone recovery.

You don’t have to wait until the nails are taken out.
